Commissioning of a stator production line (three product types)

GROB-Werke GmbH commissioned Faircom to undertake complete commissioning of a stator production line to manufacture three different stator types for different OEMs. The scope of the project comprised full project and construction site management from the assembly stage in Mindelheim through to commissioning for the end client ZF Friedrichshafen AG at the Schweinfurt location.

Faircom was responsible for detailed planning and carrying out commissioning and quality acceptance inspections, drafting a comprehensive project schedule, coordinating all suppliers, controlling the budget and reporting to management on a regular basis. Faircom’s scope of responsibility also covered planning and implementing the production launch.

  • Sector: Plant and mechanical engineering/automotive (e-mobility)
  • Client: GROB-Werke GmbH
  • Location: Mindelheim (25%) / Schweinfurt (75%), Germany
  • Undertaken by: Waldemar Graf, Thomas Karisch, Daniel Trautwein
  • Time period: 2023–2025
Initial situation

When Faircom was assigned the project, the line was still in the assembly phase at GROB’s headquarters in Mindelheim. Complete project planning and control until production approval was required to ensure successful rollout in Schweinfurt.

Project objective

The objective was to provide complete planning and management of the entire project as a general contractor. The main priorities comprised commissioning the line on time and optimising the three different stator types.

Specific challenges

The timeline requirements were extremely demanding, especially for the plug-in hybrid stator. Highly efficient planning was essential to minimise risks related to the schedule, quality and the production launch.

Result

Commissioning of the stator production line was successfully implemented at the Schweinfurt location. All planned stator types were optimised and put onto series production on schedule. The quality acceptance inspections were completed successfully. The production launch and final handover to the operator were completed as planned to the client’s complete satisfaction.
